Merchant Help: Route Cash Back

Everything merchants need to know about enabling, managing, and measuring Route Cash Back.

What is Route Cash Back?

Cash Back is a customer loyalty tool bundled with Route Package Protection. When a shopper selects Package Protection at checkout, they automatically receive a discount code for a future purchase at your store — delivered via the Route order confirmation email.

Cash Back is designed to accelerate repeat purchases, increase customer lifetime value (LTV), and boost your Route attach rate.

Platform Availability

Route Cash Back is currently available on Shopify only (all tiers: Basic, Advanced, and Plus).

Implementation & Setup

Route's Solutions and Implementation team handles all configuration. To get started:

  • Contact your Account Executive (AE) or Customer Success Manager (CSM) to confirm eligibility and initiate activation.
  • Update your Shopify App permissions to allow Route to generate discount codes on your behalf.
  • No merchant-side development work is required.

Can I Customize the Cash Back Amount?

Yes. The Cash Back incentive can often be tailored to align with your margins and promotional strategy. Contact your CSM to discuss adjusting the reward amounts for your store.

Can I Disable Cash Back?

Yes, the feature can be toggled off at any time. If you are considering removing Cash Back, please reach out to your CSM. Your feedback on the decision helps Route improve its tools.

How Do I Track Performance?

Route tracks every code generated and redeemed to help you measure the success of the program. For up-to-date reports on:

  • Attach rate changes since enabling Cash Back
  • Cash Back code redemption rates
  • Incremental revenue and repeat purchase impact
